This interview is the second one of my project of presenting young and talented people who make jewelry. It is bilingual what makes it unique here at my blog. First part is on Croatian and second on English.
Lijep pozdrav i tebi.
Iskreno, nemam neka prevelika očekivanja i snove. Neka ide sve svojim tijekom.
Behind the name of “Zara’s Bijoux” is a modest and amazing women named Dajana who makes such lovely bracelets with which she won over many hearts and fans. You can find here here: ZARA’S BIJOUX. And I am happy to bring your our interview. ❤
Hi Dajana! Tell us something about yourself and what do you do when you’re not making amazing jewelry?
Hi to you too. 🙂 I am a wife and a mother of a three year old boy, so you can assume what I do when I’m not making jewelry. 🙂 But, every spare moment I have I spend making bracelets.
Does the name “Zara’s Bijoux” has any special meaning and how did that name occur to you?
Well, “Zara” is my favorite brand and I shop there frequently so that was the name I first thought of when naming my own jewelry.
When you would have to explain what kind of a jewelry is under the name “Zara’s Bijoux” in one sentence, what would it be?
“Zara’s Bijoux” jewelry is urban and modern, but I’m also glad every age group is interested in it.
How it all begun?
It begun when I bought rivets hoping to decorate some old clothes, but it went in completely other direction. I made a couple of bracelets with what I had at home, put it on the Facebook and that’s how it all started.
Do you have a bracelet who carries a title of your favorite?
I have more than one bracelet whom I consider to be my favorite. I prefer gold, so golden bracelets maybe combined with chain are my favorites. Personally, I like the ones that are less flashy.
What are your hopes in the future with making jewelry and Zara’s Bijoux?
To be honest, I don’t have big expectations and dreams. I let everything go its own pase. I enjoy with what I do, and when some great cooperation happens (like this one with you 🙂 ) or business proposition, that is just a verification that what I do is going in the right direction.
Thank you Dajana for the lovely interview and I wish you all the best with your amazing bracelets!
I look forward to global meditations on December 12 since I first joined one in 2012. They are always special and beautiful and it is amazing knowing that in the same time (it goes live) thousands and thousands people are listening to the same voice and imagining same things… 🙂 ❤
I used to meditate quite often, when I was attending yoga. I loved visualization we learned at yoga classes. But I have lost that habit, and also the habit of breathing through my stomach – which is this awesome thing you learn with practicing yoga and it helps you to be more relaxed in everyday life. So, I love this opportunities from Master Shift to join again. 🙂
If you love trying something awesome and just wanna relax, do tune in! Two meditation will be held as every year, for west and eastern hemisphere lasting 25 minutes.
It is Halloween! 🙂
Since I won’t be doing anything related this year, it is reblog time! I was really pumped up about it last two years because it didn’t really catch on here as a “holiday” up until last few years… So, I carved pumpkins. And I planned costume and went to Halloween parties, but I am yet to be something scary for Halloween. I went as Audrey Hepburn, maybe that’s scary for someone. 😉
I had no blog then, but I did last year (it was 4 months old awwww) so I posted about it. Enjoy 🙂
Hi! I am in such a rush that I only have time to upload few pictures of a pumpkin I carved. 😀 I will do a detailed post when I catch the time, hopefully on Saturday… 🙂
Stay well and have a great time tonight! 🙂
Hello y’all! 😀 I finally found the time to finish this post…
A week later… beter than never. 😉
So… I’ll explain what I did:
First I sketch the outline of mine carving of choice – cat silhouette. Then I realised that I have placed it to high, erase everything with sponge and sketch again. 😀 Second thing to do is the most annoying… Taking out the inside of the pumpkin. I have no proper tools, so I used knife and spoon, and later on smaller knife for carving. After about an hour my pumpkin was ready for carving. Despite…

Today is a very special day… I am a first-time guest blogger in this lovely community! 🙂
This was arranged about two months ago and I am excited and happy that is finally here…my time to shine with my recipe of traditional dumplings hehe… Thank you Jhuls for having me over at thenotsocreativecook which is completely misleading because her recipes always leave me wanting more and more! 🙂
I hope you will like it. There is something special about this post also. It collided with our days of honoring the loved ones that are not around anymore (November 1st and 2nd) and these dumplings come from my grandma who I love and who has taken care of me since I was a little baby. I dedicate this to her. I will always remember you.
p.s. I am able to look at the screen for a little while so I took the opportunity and approved all of your comments and answer as many I could. I will answer to them all. Thank you for all your wishes… ❤ I miss you!
I started cooking when I was 9. I often wonder how does it feel when you did not start at an early age. I mean, some of us started just few years back, few months, or even few days back. I wonder how does it feel not being able to love cooking just because you believe you can’t cook? There’s Lori who started less than a year ago. And now, here’s Ivy who didnt like cooking about a year ago. The feeling must be really great. Right, Ivy? NOW, they rock in the kitchen. 😀
Well, Ivy here is such a funny gal and she made me smile especially when we excanged so many emails regarding the guest post. I met her at Fiesta Friday (thanks to the wonderful and amazing Angie). I was really happy when she emailed me, telling me that she wanted to do a guest post…

It’s my shit, it’s my shit… I think that’s a song from Gwen Stefani, I can’t stop singing it…
You know the awesome thing about having a blog and blogging in general? You can write anything, anytime.. Yaaaaas! 😀
I was contemplating here about new post, going to Daily Prompt and then WPC for which I had to Google the word – not the first or last time… Searching for ideas, not because I don’t have my own, but because it’s “easier” to just write about topics others are writing about. But it is actually not easier. For me it’s easier to open a “New post” and start to type. I have just left a comment on a post about writing and how it was never problem for me, so I find it strange when I read somewhere to “practice writing”. How can you practice writing?
“Get down and gimme a 20 words starting with S!!”
I don’t know. 😀 How do you practice it? You either do it…or not. And I heard (read) that a lot here on blogs as advice. At school, I could understand why someone couldn’t write their best… You have two hours to figure something out on a given (very boring) topic, it’s stressful and other people are writing around you, it’s not quiet and it generally sucks. But here, I just don’t get the whole practicing scheme. If you want to write, writeeeeee. THAT SIMPLE.
Speaking about what everyone is writing about, DP had a good Prompt few days ago:
“The internet has recently been swept up by the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Is there a cause — social, political, cultural, or other — you passionately believe in?”
I believe in any cause that creates awareness and does good. Really. I don’t pick and choose, although from my personal experience I have some preferences towards some of the causes.
I go against abuse. Any abuse. Bullying in school, bullying through social media, verbal abuse, emotional, physical.
EVERY SINGLE PERSON DESERVE TO LIVE THEIR LIFE FREE FROM ABUSE.
(Unless they have committed some kind of disgusting crime. I don’t have extra empathy for sick behaviors.)
What do I think about The Ice Bucket Challenge?
Many people are negative about it… “Oh, it’s just a trend…” “People are tagging friends just for fun…” “How can people trowing cold water over their heads help someone?” “Why don’t they donate instead?” “How come all these famous people could throw a bucket of ice on them and not donate?”
First of all, it’s a trend. Yes. You are talking about it. Two weeks ago almost nobody affected knew. BAM!
Second, how do you know they didn’t donate? I am absolutely sure they have, only some freak like Stev-O could go and accuse people of not donating. Dude, you give the money and not talk about it, that’s how it’s done. Think. With the one brain cell you have. 😀
Ok so, from my part I feel obligated to inform those of you who still don’t know what ALS is. One blogger in particular made a very good job explaining. I Say Write, the stage is yours:
What is ALS?
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurological disease that targets and degenerates motor neurons. These are nerve cells located at the brain, brain stem and spinal cord that give us voluntary control over the muscles in our face, arms and legs.
With ALS, motor neurons become unable to send signals to the muscles causing them to weaken and waste away. ALS patients soon lose the full ability to talk, move and walk. In worst case scenarios, even the lungs are unable to function without a ventilator support causing many to die due to respiratory failure. Although ALS does not impair a person’s mind, heart, and five senses, a patient may still suffer from depression and have difficulty in decision-making and remembering memories. (My edit; That all means that you slowly lose control over your own body until you can’t chew or swallow food for yourself and eventually can’t breathe leading to suffocation. Sound like a worst nightmare not a real disease with progress rate 3 years from diagnose. )
What are the symptoms?
ALS starts out very quietly. The symptoms are so subtle that a person may tend to overlook them. Here are some telltale signs of ALS:
- Cramps and muscle twitches
- Stiff, tight muscles
- Weakening of the arm and leg muscles
- Slurred, nasal speech
- Trouble chewing and swallowing
- Struggling to do simple tasks like writing, handling utensils, or buttoning shirts (upper motor neuron damage)
- Sudden awkwardness in walking, tripping over your own feet, and stumbling on flat surfaces (lower motor neuron damage)
Know the signs and raise the alarm immediately once spotted. Go to the nearest doctor for a complete check-up and ECG. Although the appearance of both upper and lower motor neuron signs may be a strong indication of ALS, some symptoms may be caused by a different disease. The earlier tests are conducted, the better to save a life.
Treatment for ALS
The cause and cure for ALS is not yet known. Continuous research is being done to test new drugs and learn more about this neurodegenerative disease. Currently, there is only one FDA-approved drug called Riluzole that is being administered to ALS patients. Although it does not reverse the damages already inflicted by ALS, it does slow down its progression. Coupled with physical therapy and use of special equipment, patients are also given other medicines that relieve pain, reduce fatigue, ease cramps and promote uninterrupted sleep to make them more mobile and comfortable.
Once diagnosed with ALS, a person is given an average life expectancy of 3 to 5 years. But each case is as unique as the person. As supporting technology improves and continuous medical research yields more answers, an ALS patient can still live actively and productively for even 10 to 20 years more. More importantly, the unending support and love a patient’s family and friends together with the ALS community are priceless gems improving their quality of life.
Ice bucket or not, I hope I have helped at least to share some information and awareness about ALS.
Stay strong and hold on! ❤

If you didn’t know, my blog is called Ivy Mosquito because I am allergic to f**king mosquitoes…
Not life threatening, but lets just say that they can make me limp for few days if they bite me on my ankles.
I have been enjoy outdoor life and nature in this last 5 days. It was lovely. ❤
Result: I am sitting here TRYING not to think about dozen mosquito bites I have all over my legs and hands. Effing stupid mosquitoes.
I didn’t bring the mosquito repellent because two days I was on my bike, foolishly thinking that “I’m too fast for them to bite me.” XD
Now I’m smarter when I look like I have been in a battle, and sitting super carefully because God forbid that I accidentally scratch somewhere…anywhere.
Ok, so my mission yesterday was to capture the Supermoon. It is called Supermoon because it is bigger from regular full moon and 30% brighter. The next one to come close to it will happen in September next year.
Normally, that kind of information would excite me. But, not these days.
The Perseid meteor shower is getting close to its peak on August 12 and 13, and we have a super big moon covering all of it. Most of it.
That’s not cool.
I will despite that fact, try to see some of them tonight and tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
Some info about Supermoon: AUGUST SUPERMOON
p.s. Today’s Google Doddle is awesome. 🙂
