Interview: ZARA’S BIJOUX

This interview is the second one of my project of presenting young and talented people who make jewelry. It is bilingual what makes it unique here at my blog. First part is on Croatian and second on English.

Lijep pozdrav i tebi.

Iskreno, nemam neka prevelika očekivanja i snove. Neka ide sve svojim tijekom.

Behind the name of “Zara’s Bijoux” is a modest and amazing women named Dajana who makes such lovely bracelets with which she won over many hearts and fans. You can find here here: ZARA’S BIJOUX. And I am happy to bring your our interview. ❤

Hi Dajana! Tell us something about yourself and what do you do when you’re not making amazing jewelry?

Hi to you too. 🙂 I am a wife and a mother of a three year old boy, so you can assume what I do when I’m not making jewelry. 🙂 But, every spare moment I have I spend making bracelets.

Does the name “Zara’s Bijoux” has any special meaning and how did that name occur to you?

Well, “Zara” is my favorite brand and I shop there frequently so that was the name I first thought of when naming my own jewelry.

When you would have to explain what kind of a jewelry is under the name “Zara’s Bijoux” in one sentence, what would it be?

“Zara’s Bijoux” jewelry is urban and modern, but I’m also glad every age group is interested in it.

How it all begun?

It begun when I bought rivets hoping to decorate some old clothes, but it went in completely other direction. I made a couple of bracelets with what I had at home, put it on the Facebook and that’s how it all started.

Do you have a bracelet who carries a title of your favorite?

I have more than one bracelet whom I consider to be my favorite. I prefer gold, so golden bracelets maybe combined with chain are my favorites. Personally, I like the ones that are less flashy.

What are your hopes in the future with making jewelry and Zara’s Bijoux?

To be honest, I don’t have big expectations and dreams. I let everything go its own pase. I enjoy with what I do, and when some great cooperation happens (like this one with you 🙂 ) or business proposition, that is just a verification that what I do is going in the right direction.

Thank you Dajana for the lovely interview and I wish you all the best with your amazing bracelets!

….let us all unite!

It’s good from once in a while to listen to this again. It is so brilliant.

I love to share advice and stuff that helped me and that inspire me…that is actually the constant flow in this blog of mine, whatever I write about. I love to share positive thoughts, initiatives and creating a life you actually love to live. I said a couple of times that I aspire to inspire. That is true.

I wish you an awesome day. 🙂

Do you really want to live forever?

I just watched this and… I had to make a post. 🙂 Today is first day of Autumn, and I don’t like when summer ends.

No matter what are your opinions about Jay Z and Beyonce, put that aside, just look at the beauty of this video, the people who look like stars in the sky, the “Forever young” song, look at the cutie Blue Ivy is… Look at the joy in their eyes when they look at her, and please, look at the ending. 🙂

Everything has an ending, but if the journey was good… It is ok. I’m ok with it. This summer was more like an extended spring, so it left me feeling like something is missing. But, I am not going to be sad for the next nine months. I will find the good and the joy. 🙂 So maybe I would ask a person I just met a whole bunch of questions, but in the end, all I really wanna know is what they can’t tell me – their passion, their kindness, their simplicity and positivity… Their enjoyment in life. Their ability to overcome problems, even the hard, scary and consistent ones.

“Forever young, I wanna be… forever young…”

This photo is 2 years old. I wanted to find a photo of me acting silly - which I have plenty, but this is from the same day the photo in my "About me" is and since there are some changes going to happen really soon, I figured this is the perfect photo for this post. :)

THE COCONUT EXPERIMENT

IMG_1989

I am bringing this to Fiesta Friday #33 at Angie’s ❤ . For bonus points; Count how many times I have written “coconut” 😉

Few days ago I was walking through a local grocery store and stopped at the fruit/vegetable section. There it was. Coconuts. Whole coconuts, dirt on them, straight from the… I don’t know from where coconuts come from but I know it’s somewhere nice and warm and beachy – nothing like here. Yes I am mad about the promise made to me by nature that we will have four seasons here, one of them called SUMMER and I was let down this year. There was no summer. 😦 There was a bit of nice weather just to make it in the cities more south. Here, in my drawer, I have an angry bathing suit who did not see the daylight this year and an equally angry owner who didn’t get to wear it.

This was all necessary so you can understand the excitement and nostalgia when I saw coconuts. 6 kunas per piece (just above 1 $). After me and bf had our fun by shaking the coconut to hear the water inside, I decided to buy one. I’ve never had a “straight from the tree” coconut and I saw my opportunity. 🙂

After initially telling me that I wouldn’t possibly be able to open it (so supportive) bf went on YouTube to search how to open a coconut. Turns out, pretty easy. I drilled holes by hand with corkscrew in the darker spots on top (I guess that’s where the coconut is attached to the tree) and voila, I could pour the water out. It is recommended to filter the water before drinking it, but that didn’t stop me to drink it straight from the coconut and pretending I had just find my source of water on a deserted island.  Water tasted refreshing and sweet, with coconut flavor (shock!). It’s pretty delicious. 🍸

Next step was to crack the coconut open. I had a few issues opening it and at one point it became a family activity. 😀 You have to grab a hammer and do a little hit in one line in the middle of coconut all the way around and it just gives up after a while. I was lucky it opened perfectly so now I have two sides of coconut and I will do something fun and decorative with it. 🙂

Bf got everything out with a knife and I peeled off the crust left on the pieces. We ended up with a surprisingly big amount of coconut based on a size of it. Since I figured we won’t munch the whole thing and it had to be in water the whole time I searched on YouTube for what can I do with it. Turns out, a lot. Have you ever tried or heard about coconut oil? It is awesome to use instead of regular oil and it benefits your body a lot. I wanted however to make coconut flour so I found this helpful video;

My original thought was to make coconut milk, but since I don’t have a blender that flew off the table. Anyway, I followed instructions in the video and got this;

IMG_2028

You can use it for making all sorts of cakes, it goes into anything coconuty and I know you can even make bread from it. I don’t know how that tastes, but you can… What was left was this coconut oily water and then I decided to make oil. I knew it would be a silly small amount but I was interested if I could do it. And yes, indeed, I can do it. 🙂

Again I just followed the video – waited for the oily part to divide from the water, gather it with spoon in bowl and cook until the pieces of coconut turned brown. I ended up with a few spoons of home-made coconut oil.

This is half-eaten 😉

I encourage you to go on this adventure. I can’t believe how easy it was and how expensive coconut oil and flour is in the store. I think I will be making some more. 🙂

p.s. I made home-made Bounty a while ago, so this coconut story is not over! 😉

This is my answer

Daily Post had really negative prompt today. let me bring it here:

“You wake up one day and realize you’re ten years older than you were the previous night. Beyond the initial shock, how does this development change your life plans?”

Terrible, right?

Not just because of the fact we missed an important part of our life, like being in a coma… But, also because it is supposed that we had it all planned out and this somehow messed that up. And the second is the more important part? No! Life is to be lived, not to be structured and planned.

We all plan, that is normal. If you don’t plan, you won’t have goals, dreams… But in the end, all we can do and it is so WONDERFUL when we do it, is to live!

I have been greatly inspired to write this because my cousin sent me this today. I DEEPLY RECOMMEND to watch it. Be skeptical, it’s ok. Be scared, we all are. Try to watch it. Maybe you understand it. Maybe you understand what is important in your life, and what not. What makes you happy and what not.

Maybe you see how important and beautiful and so ignored one thing is – to really love yourself. To accept yourself. To forgive yourself. ❤

What happens when a homeless man accidentally gets in a music video shooting?

I find this so inspirational and beautiful… It doesn’t matter if you believe in something higher than you, God or universe, this is so touching and unbelivable that I had to make a post about it even though I reblogged it few days ago. Even the man filming the behind scene can’t believe it. He is saying: “Can you hear him?” 🙂

The power of positive human connection and music. ❤

Looking for inspiration? I inspire you today!

I wanted to do a video-marathon today of some of the videos I have watched recently. Thank you Spiritbath and thank you internet. There are good, kind and amazing people on this planet we call our own, and they (we) are trying to make a positive change and think with their own head. I love it! I hope you will find something for you… 🙂

I want to inspire you, make you happy, make you smile and just boost your mood. I hope I can. 😀 I chose famous Charlie Chaplin’s speech for featured video because it is the king and queen of inspiration. It is the main thought of what the people on other videos are showing and trying to achieve.
