Listen

Listen to your heart,
When it’s calling for you
Listen to your heart.
There’s nothing else you can do…

I don’t know where you going and I don’t know why
But listen to your heart…

Hey! This song is in my head since I woke up. Listen to yourself, if you do you will always get an honest answer. That is probably the reason we don’t listen but rather ignore, because there are some answers we don’t wanna hear.

Stay well, hi from semi-cloudy but still warm capital. ❀

Nature is my medicine

I have this WP app on my phone almost since I opened my blog and it has been awesome to write my drafts when I’m not around computer, but in the last weeks my mobile became the only screen I can look at. I am getting more into it to see what I can do… It is not the same of course, I can’t post some of the stuff that I had in mind, and I can’t put my logo on the photos, or tags and categories – I think, but it’ll make my blog blues dissapear πŸ™‚

Remember how I was sad about summer not being sunny and warm? We are having some late warm and sunny weather here and it is beautiful, I am really enjoying in it hehe, even if it’s from my bed.

I have so much ideas to share with you, from my ponderings, photographs I made, interior design DIY’s, even fashion stuff and ootd (“outfit of the day”), projects that require more energy and are waiting for me in my folders… Oh yes, I have made a peach pie that I can’t wait to share recipe for, and something I won’t give away because it was so new for me… Now you can see why I can’t wait to be back and editing, but I will take all the time I need and explore this app more. πŸ˜‰

I am getting all your comments-love and it makes me smile seeing all those dear names πŸ™‚

Do you really want to live forever?

I just watched this and… I had to make a post. πŸ™‚ Today is first day of Autumn, and I don’t like when summer ends.

No matter what are your opinions about Jay Z and Beyonce, put that aside, just look at the beauty of this video, the people who look like stars in the sky, the “Forever young” song, look at the cutie Blue Ivy is… Look at the joy in their eyes when they look at her, and please, look at the ending. πŸ™‚

Everything has an ending, but if the journey was good… It is ok. I’m ok with it. This summer was more like an extended spring, so it left me feeling like something is missing. But, I am not going to be sad for the next nine months. I will find the good and the joy. πŸ™‚ So maybe I would ask a person I just met aΒ whole bunch of questions, but in the end, all I really wanna know is what they can’t tell me – their passion, their kindness, their simplicity and positivity… Their enjoyment in life. Their ability to overcome problems, even the hard, scary and consistent ones.

“Forever young, I wanna be… forever young…”

This photo is 2 years old. I wanted to find a photo of me acting silly - which I have plenty, but this is from the same day the photo in my "About me" is and since there are some changes going to happen really soon, I figured this is the perfect photo for this post. :)

THE COCONUT EXPERIMENT

IMG_1989

I am bringing this to Fiesta FridayΒ #33 at Angie’s ❀ . For bonus points; Count how many times I have written “coconut” πŸ˜‰

Few days ago I was walking through a local grocery store and stopped at the fruit/vegetable section. There it was. Coconuts. Whole coconuts, dirt on them, straight from the… I don’t know from where coconuts come from but I know it’s somewhere nice and warm and beachy – nothing like here. Yes I am mad about the promise made to me by nature that we will have four seasons here, one of them called SUMMER and I was let down this year. There was no summer. 😦 There was a bit of nice weather just to make it in the cities more south. Here, in my drawer, I have an angry bathing suit who did not see the daylight this year and an equally angry owner who didn’t get to wear it.

This was all necessary so you can understand the excitement and nostalgia when I saw coconuts. 6 kunas per piece (just above 1 $). After me and bf had our fun by shaking the coconut to hear the water inside, I decided to buy one. I’ve never had a “straight from the tree” coconut and I saw my opportunity. πŸ™‚

After initially telling me that I wouldn’t possibly be able to open it (so supportive) bf went on YouTube to search how to open a coconut. Turns out, pretty easy. I drilled holes by hand with corkscrew in the darker spots on top (I guess that’s where the coconut is attached to the tree) and voila, I could pour the water out. It is recommended to filter the water before drinking it, but that didn’t stop me to drink it straight from the coconut and pretending I had just find my source of water on a deserted island. Β Water tasted refreshing and sweet, with coconut flavor (shock!). It’s pretty delicious. 🍸

Next step was to crack the coconut open.Β I had a few issues opening it and at one point it became a family activity. πŸ˜€ You have to grab a hammer and do a little hit in one line in the middle of coconut all the way around and it just gives up after a while. I was lucky it opened perfectly so now I have two sides of coconut and I will do something fun and decorative with it. πŸ™‚

Bf got everything out with a knife and I peeled off the crust left on the pieces. We ended up with a surprisingly big amount of coconut based on a size of it. Since I figured we won’t munch the whole thing and it had to be in water the whole time I searched on YouTube for what can I do with it. Turns out, a lot. Have you ever tried or heard about coconut oil? It is awesome to use instead of regular oil and it benefits your body a lot. I wanted however to make coconut flour so I found this helpful video;

My original thought was to make coconut milk, but since I don’t have a blender that flew off the table. Anyway, I followed instructions in the video and got this;

IMG_2028

You can use itΒ for making all sorts of cakes, it goes into anything coconuty and I know you can even make bread from it. I don’t know how that tastes, but you can… What was left was this coconut oily water and then I decided to make oil. I knew it would be a silly small amount but I was interested if I could do it. And yes, indeed, I can do it. πŸ™‚

Again I just followed the video – waited for the oily part to divide from the water, gather it with spoon in bowl and cook until the pieces of coconut turned brown. I ended up with a few spoons of home-made coconut oil.

This is half-eaten πŸ˜‰

I encourage you to go on this adventure. I can’t believe how easy it was and how expensive coconut oil and flour is in the store. I think I will be making some more. πŸ™‚

p.s. I made home-made Bounty a while ago, so this coconut story is not over! πŸ˜‰

Goodbye autumn… :)

Goodbye autumn... :)

The weather forecast for this week is temperatures below zero and snow in most of my country so the title is appropriate. πŸ™‚ I made this photos as part of my Halloween edition, before I got to work of carving the pumpkin πŸ˜‰

I collected things like leaves making sure I have variety of colors… I imagined a lot of things in the picture, a little bit of chaos, and chaos I got indeed.

I saved hazelnuts cocoons from cleaning and shells, everything. I was in nature that week so I collected some extraordinary leaves, acorns, briars and stuff like that. It was a puzzle piece making itself in my head that week…

The day I was supposed to shoot I went outside with huge plastic bag and put in it as much leaves as I could. Red, green, dry, brown, yellow, wide, big, small… Everything. It was awesome to look at confused people passing by and watching me collecting my treasure. πŸ˜€

Tell me what do you think, do you like it?

Soon, soon……. :D

Soon, soon....... :D

I have snapped a few (dozen) amazing photos lately… And when I say they are amazing, they really are… For now, they go in my “everything” folder, until I find the time and until there comes a topic in which they will fit. πŸ™‚

Photography is starting to be more than a hobby for me, it is a form of my self-expression. πŸ™‚

Do I like fall…at all?

Do I like fall...at all?

I’ve been feeling kinda sick lately… I say kinda, because I’m not laying in bed with temperature (yet!), but my head hurts so much that I can’t blog as much as i want to. 😦 Oh the joys of changing seasons, the autumn is coming and with it so are colds, flu and other gifts of nature… πŸ˜•

Fall is really depressing, at least for me… Coming after awesome warm summer, suddenly it’s raining all the time, it’s getting colder every day and sunlight is rare and slowly giving the crown to the night more and more… Autumn has always been my least favorite season, I guess because school is starting, college is starting, responsibilities are starting. It was like an old guy telling me at 4 am that the party is over and he needs to close the club.

So, I was thinking to myself after I was caught in the rain yesterday with no umbrella, what do I LIKE about autumn?

I made a list. It’s not a long one, but it still has more numbers than I thought it would have.

1. Colors. *.* I looooove autumn colors, the nature’s own decorations…

2. Tea. Fruit tea, green tea, mint tea, herb tea, mmmmm…. With lemon and honey. I cannot begin explaining how much I like tea… I don’t drink coffee, tea is my medicine. Since it’s to hot to drink it during summer, I return to him faithfully when the colder days arrive.

3. Watching rain falling. From inside! πŸ™‚ Or maybe going for a walk with umbrella.

4. Smell of rain in the air. Pure freshness. (Like a commercial)

5. Chestnuts roasted on fire… Awesome.

6. Watching movies under a ton of blankets, all warm and cosy…

7. Watching a storm. Again, from inside. Same as with the tea, I am a huge freak when it comes to storms, storm clouds, lightnings etc. I can watch trough window for hours just enjoying, watching how the wind goes through the trees and cars passing by… When i was just a little girl, I would do the same. We even lived in a place without lighting rod, but I was never scared. I have been photographing for years the clouds but now I finally have a place to put those photos. πŸ™‚

8. Halloween! Muahahahaha… It has been few years since we “adopted” this holiday from USA, but it is really a joy. We still have our own masquerade in february. Halloween is more fun for adults, no one goes trick or treating on Halloween, but everyone goes clubbing under masks. πŸ˜€

9. And the most important thing… Christmas is coming! Soon, the city will be filled with decorations and festive lights. Delight!

10. With Christmas there comes a New Year, and it seems that I love looking in the sky because I adore fireworks. This is not fall anymore, but it is certainly something I look forward too. And I wantedΒ to end with number 10. πŸ˜€

What are your favorite things from autumn?

  • p.s. The photos of city decorations are all from my city (Zagreb) and the first photo with lightning is Β from my country (Zadar). πŸ™‚
  • p.p.s I took the photos in this post that have my link marked on them.
  • p.p.p.s I made two necklaces from cotton, can’t wait to feature them on blog… πŸ™‚

Disclaimer: I do not own the images in this post that don’t have mark of my blog on them, I found them through Google search and kept their names.
