Do It Yourself Candle Holder :)

I made this awesomeness form an old hair brush

It is super simple to do and super effective to have…

Just remove the bottom of a round old brush and take out the inside. Paint the top – now bottom however you like – I was Christmas inspired so I painted it white and put some gold glitter. The tea candle would not be visible so I put three layers of styrofoam. And that is pretty much it. 😀

Last year I made a holder from a pudding plastic container hehe… i put some colored sand on the bottom, then styrofoam made into fake snow and on top a plastic snowflake. Also, I glued some decorations on the top.

p.s. If you don’t have a brush to make this you can also use a glass and aluminum foil, just pierce little holes in foil and put inside a glass, and a candle on bottom. 😉

DIY candle holders, inspiring for Christmas

I just love candles and tea candles, they give the room kinda mystic glance… 😉 They calm me. So I give you a gallery of “Do It Yourself” candle hodlers that I found on Facebook pages I already mentioned: Creative Ideas and Diply (former Different Solutions). Also, this is a preview of what has been on my mind lately and the DIY candle holder I have done myself. 😉

Enjoy! 🙂

Do It Yourself: Earrings!

Do It Yourself: Earrings!

Hiya! 🙂

I have started to make ideas that were piling up in my head in actual items… And gathering all the stuff I need for the pre – Christmas projects and decorations. Yaaay! 😀

I made this earrings in my head first, I knew exactly how i wanted them to look like. Then in my luck, I have found awesome girl who helped me in finding all the specific parts, some of what she already had because she makes jewelry on her own. Beautiful jewelry if I can add. I think she ships only in Croatia but if you want to check her work out, go on this link: Le Chic.

I made this Christmas earrings – that’s how I call them – in about an hour, not calculating the time i thought I can add something with nail polishing the pendants… but that was a mistake. Except for a strong glue (I use glue for wood) I didn’t need really nothing else. I removed the hooks from earrings I will not use and glue zircons on the metallic/silver base. I put the big heart and small heart as a pendants – I made sure that will be possible when I was putting the zircons. The last step was to glue the hooks behind and voila! my Christmas earrings are done. I love them 🙂

What do you think? They will go perfectly with a sweater I bought which is blue and has big white heart from fake fur in the middle. It is hand-made and absolutely amazing. So, I’m going in the hand-made zone more and more, I ain’t even glancing behind… 😀

Weekly Photo Challenge | Last Christmas…

Weekly Photo Challenge | Last Christmas...

From the moment I woke up today I am singing this Xmas song. Don’t know why, don’t know how… (Couldn’t hear it anywhere because it is beginning of December)

I took some photos very dear to me last Christmas (2012) and didn’t had blog at a time, so this weeks theme Let there be Light is perfect. 😉

Enjoy…

p.s. I will be making similar DIY Christmas ornaments like the one on the first photo.

Some of this week’s entries I loved:

I absolutely agree! There is nothing more I would like to add. xxx

photo 2-78I recently had a conversation with a sweet girl who works at a local fast food place.  She told me that they are open 24 hours a day, all year, including Thanksgiving and Christmas.

She said that people drive through, at 6 am, to pick up breakfast for their entire family on Christmas mornings.  She wasn’t jaded or bitter.  But she was sad.  She said she wished she could be at home on these holidays.  As she should be.

Now, I am concerned about the general lack of work ethic in our country.  But working on holidays isn’t about a healthy work ethic.

There is value in rest.  There is value in taking a break.  It renews the body, mind, and soul.

More and more companies are pushing or requiring their employees to work on holidays.

Why?

Because we demand it.

Because we can’t go one day without…

Do I like fall…at all?

Do I like fall...at all?

I’ve been feeling kinda sick lately… I say kinda, because I’m not laying in bed with temperature (yet!), but my head hurts so much that I can’t blog as much as i want to. 😦 Oh the joys of changing seasons, the autumn is coming and with it so are colds, flu and other gifts of nature… 😕

Fall is really depressing, at least for me… Coming after awesome warm summer, suddenly it’s raining all the time, it’s getting colder every day and sunlight is rare and slowly giving the crown to the night more and more… Autumn has always been my least favorite season, I guess because school is starting, college is starting, responsibilities are starting. It was like an old guy telling me at 4 am that the party is over and he needs to close the club.

So, I was thinking to myself after I was caught in the rain yesterday with no umbrella, what do I LIKE about autumn?

I made a list. It’s not a long one, but it still has more numbers than I thought it would have.

1. Colors. *.* I looooove autumn colors, the nature’s own decorations…

Colorful autumn trees

2. Tea. Fruit tea, green tea, mint tea, herb tea, mmmmm…. With lemon and honey. I cannot begin explaining how much I like tea… I don’t drink coffee, tea is my medicine. Since it’s to hot to drink it during summer, I return to him faithfully when the colder days arrive.

3. Watching rain falling. From inside! 🙂 Or maybe going for a walk with umbrella.

4. Smell of rain in the air. Pure freshness. (Like a commercial)

5. Chestnuts roasted on fire… Awesome.

6. Watching movies under a ton of blankets, all warm and cosy…

7. Watching a storm. Again, from inside. Same as with the tea, I am a huge freak when it comes to storms, storm clouds, lightnings etc. I can watch trough window for hours just enjoying, watching how the wind goes through the trees and cars passing by… When i was just a little girl, I would do the same. We even lived in a place without lighting rod, but I was never scared. I have been photographing for years the clouds but now I finally have a place to put those photos. 🙂

8. Halloween! Muahahahaha… It has been few years since we “adopted” this holiday from USA, but it is really a joy. We still have our own masquerade in february. Halloween is more fun for adults, no one goes trick or treating on Halloween, but everyone goes clubbing under masks. 😀

9. And the most important thing… Christmas is coming! Soon, the city will be filled with decorations and festive lights. Delight!

10. With Christmas there comes a New Year, and it seems that I love looking in the sky because I adore fireworks. This is not fall anymore, but it is certainly something I look forward too. And I wanted to end with number 10. 😀

What are your favorite things from autumn?

  • p.s. The photos of city decorations are all from my city (Zagreb) and the first photo with lightning is  from my country (Zadar). 🙂
  • p.p.s I took the photos in this post that have my link marked on them.
  • p.p.p.s I made two necklaces from cotton, can’t wait to feature them on blog… 🙂

Disclaimer: I do not own the images in this post that don’t have mark of my blog on them, I found them through Google search and kept their names.
