Shhh… Can I tell you a secret?

With Valentine’s Day close I want to talk about it. OK, write about it. ☺

If you didn’t know that Valentine’s Day is this Saturday you probably haven’t open any online media or social network, they tend to go more and more hyper about this day as it approaches. I’m not gonna go in the “hate it or love it” debate, neither I’m gonna say that whether single or in a relationship you don’t need a day to appreciate people you love, and most definitely I won’t say that you as a person are so incredible and enough and whole even tho I mean it. Ops, I said it. πŸ˜‰

I’m just gonna say something.

Valentine’s Day is like Santa for adults.

It’s made by companies to make us buy moreΒ shit stuff.

Lets be honest, if companies could make 10 more “holidays” just to sell specific items – they would do it! They would. Like in that song…

“What’s love gotta do with it, gotta do with it…”

Almost nothing. The thing that is good from it that it is a reminder not to take our loved ones for granted. And also, we all love getting stuff. I know I do. πŸ˜€

If you have zero balance on your account but still want to give something to your loved one(s), I will share the pillow I made for my friend’s baby girl. It was the first time I tried this specific sewing method so it turned out GREAT. You can use any fabric you want, as long as it is easy to sew… Oh, and you’re gonna need to cut open a few of your stuffed animals. You’re gonna feel sorry (At least I did) but it’s for the greater good. πŸ˜‰

I took a red cotton shirt and cut out the edges. Then I wrote her name following the lines I placed with thin black marker. Then I made the shape of a heart inside out and sew it that way, it just looks better when you do it that way. In the bag next to it on the third photo is my “stuffing”. I left the bottom open, turn the heart on the right side, place the stuffing and then sew the end by hand.

Finished! πŸ™‚ The baby body next to it was the other part of my gift. I decoupaged the lines from my friend’s favorite show The Big Bang Theory. πŸ™‚

Catch of The Month | June ?

img_0987

I have ordered this two skirts way back, but they were delivered in June… I can call this “Getting ready for the summer”, even though it is raining outside and I am sitting here with long sleeves on.

Let’s just go with it…

πŸ™‚

Ok, I will do a little bit of reviewing this skirts, since you really don’t know whatcha buying until it gets here.
I am positively surprised with the short one with heart pattern, because I have won it on an auction and I think it was 5 dollars, something close. I had no idea (because it is not specified in the description) that the skirt has shorts under layer. You can imagine my face when I put it on for the first time haha… πŸ˜€

For the green one, I knew I wanted something green, on the scale to emerald shade and I got my eye on this one. Costed about 10 dollars – pretty much the most expensive thing I have bought on e-Bay in 4 years I am there. It is good, but I did a lot of calculating and decided that I will order n L size they had. I am an UK M or medium size, but having always been S or small it is hard for me to make that mental shift. I love my M, but Asian measures are extra small. The shirt fits me excellent, but I wanted something more loose… I think I will make some remakes. πŸ™‚

You can see my obsession with emerald shade of green this summer even on the nail-polish. I love it. It was about 2 dollars.

You can even see on Polyvore my current mind-set… Where is the purple hair? Coming soon… πŸ™‚

Catch of the month | January

It’s that time of the month again…. Time fooooor…. CATCH (catch…catch…) OF (of…of…) THE (the…the…) MONTH (month…month…) ! πŸ˜€

Catch of the month | January

You know from my posts that I love to buy second-hand clothes and accessorizes, I buy in outlets and textile houses and always search for a piece of clothes or fabric that I can use in my DIY projects.

But, I also buy in stores (duuuh πŸ˜€ ). I am the type of person who likes to walk into store and look around but when I actually go shopping, I’m like a woman on a mission. I know what I want, I know how much I’m prepared to spend for it and when I found it I immediately buy it or reserve it till the next day.

That is the case with this super rocker / a bit cowboy boots (heel). I knew that I wanted something like this for winter and I also want something I will be able to wear when I go horse riding. By that I mean, LEARNING how to get up on a horse. Riding horses is my wish and I hope it will come true this year – I am certainly making steps, like buying this boots. πŸ˜‰

They were on sale, from 250kn to 139kn. That is from about 45 $ to about 25 $.

They have also inspired my Leather winter and I am planning to buy a black eco-leather skirt so I think they will match “savrΕ‘eno”. That means perfect. Ε  is pronounced like sh. I have to explain because I know you care hahahaha πŸ˜€

Catch of the month | December β…

Catch of the month | December ❅

This is definitely catch of… winter. One of. This sweater is brown (ish), warm and huuuuge ( Fashion term: oversized  ). It is XL I think, maybe even XXL, and I’m smaller M. I drown in it and I love it. β™₯

I feel so safe in it, I wear it at home almost all the time and even when I go somewhere casual. It’s really warm and cosy.

I bought it at a textile house sale, so it’s like I’ve bought something already on sale – on sale. πŸ™‚ It was less than a dollar. When I was trying it on my mum told me “You’re not really gonna buy this?” So that was another sign to buy it hahahah. πŸ˜€

Since they have announced a lot of snow and low temperatures coming in central Europe, I think I’m gonna wear it a lot. My bf told me that he’s going to buy me a blanket with sleeves. I’m waiting. πŸ˜€

The joy of wrapping presents β˜Ί

The joy of wrapping presents ;)

I like wrapping presents. Ok, that is a huge underestimating. I looooooooove wrapping presents. πŸ˜€ That is more interesting to me sometimes than the actual present hahahaha…

I love making something that is not – wrapping presents so from the outside they appear to be something that they are not. My bf knows the joy of that very well. :mr green: Two years ago for his b-day I have made/bought him a custom-made t-shirt and put it in cookie package and put everything so they seem to be not opened. The funny thing is, he was actually happy with getting cookies, but could not understand why I insisted that he opens them RIGHT NOW. πŸ˜€ This year, I’ve bought him a wallet and wanted to do the big box – small box thing, when you open big box and then small and smaller… I had a lot of luck and he accidentally left his old wallet at my place and I packed everything, the big box, the paper and decoration paper inside, smaller box and inside his old wallet. He was unwrapping the thing for 15 minutes (he likes to sloooooooowly unwrap, I’m more of a cut it all person πŸ˜€ )… The look on his face when he saw his old wallet after all the trouble and laughing was priceless. I said, ok, you don’t want that one and gave him the new wallet.

So, he is quite familiar with my little scams muahahaha πŸ˜›

Anyway back to the “do it myself” part featured in this post. This was a chocolate box I wanted to turn into my master piece. πŸ˜‰ I knew what I wanted on it (japanese spring flower) and found a picture. Then I sketched the outlines and painted the whole thing as I wanted. For the box I knew tempera will be a difficult choice because the material is too smooth for it. But! I wanted that kind of uneven look, somewhere more white, somewhere more black. I always tend to take on challenges… When it starts to look difficult, I go in “bring it on” mode.

Fotor121723253

Ok, and for the bow/ribbon part I found easy tutorial and it came out good. It would be even better if the material of the ribbon was softer.

Fotor1217232740

This was a present I packed for my friend, I call her Princess so the little box says “Princeza”. πŸ˜‰ The box is btw from a dairy spread haha πŸ˜€

Anyway this is my little joy and I have fun with it… What about you, do you like it or hate it? Tell me ☺

Catch of the month: October

Catch of the month: October

So…. Yes, I AM aware that it is mid-November πŸ˜€ I think I’m gonna have to make myself reminders for this category… πŸ˜‰

I wanted to say something about it also, because I noticed a lot of similar stuff going on on internet (blogs, YouTube, FB etc.). I want to explain why I have this category. It is not a review of nothing, which fashion bloggers do with cosmetics for example, and it is most certainly NOT me bragging – “oh, look what I bought last month” πŸ˜• Coz that’s just plain stupid for me.

I do it because I want to show everyone that you CAN get well dressed and make yourself happy in shopping even if you have a very limited budget. I am very proud in finding sales and good bargains, that is something I am proud of…not ashamed. So, I want my readers to be proud to. It’s awesome if you have all the money you need to buy everything you want, but most likely that is far from truth. So, don’t you think you should be ashamed, not for one minute. Or be sad because you can’t buy Prada or Gucci or Whatever-brand. Names are just names, put YOUR name on your clothes and jewelry through your unique style! And show it off like it’s Dolce Gabbana because the names have the power we give them.

You’re a star. OWN IT! πŸ™‚

A little about October items – sister bought me this skirt and palestinian scarf, both in textile house for 10 kunas (about 2 $) because she knows I love palestinian scarfs and this kind of skirts. And the lightning necklace I bought on e-bay for 1.05$. I’m gonna explain my obsession with lightnings maybe another post. Or maybe I already did, in Do I like fall…at all.

Catch of the month: August

Catch of the month: August

I’m starting a new category, “Catch of the month”. Since a lot of my friends (ok, most of my friends) tell me I have a natural luck when it comes to sales and I find items at a crazy low prices, I thought – why not present the catch that made me most happy in the past month at my blog. πŸ™‚

I found this absolutely adorable bag at a textile house in my city and bought it just for 5 kunas! (5 kn = 0.88 USD and 0.66 EURO)

I really, really like the indie touch and plus, the inside of a bag is black polyester like any inside of a bag in the store…

I love it.

The gallery of beauty

Two or three years ago I have become infatuated with paintings divided on three, four or more parts which all combine into one beautiful piece… Asymmetrical, symmetrical, same size, different sizes, horizontal, vertical… Everything that’s well put together, I love it. πŸ™‚

So, naturally I HAD to do some of my own, since I have no money for “the real deal”. πŸ™‚

I’m gonna make a post with my poster-painting to show how easy it can be to create something similar. Till then, enjoy in these images…
