Twitter? Sorry no I don’t eat that

I realized today that I have been ignoring the existence of Twitter for so long I had to check up how to write Twitter 😂 It is a thing here in Balkans, we just DON’T tweet. We do FB, yup, we do Instagram, oh yeah we do YouTube but but but but we do not do Twitter. MySpace was more popular here than tweeting lol. Also there is a second problem with it, we LOOOOOOVE to talk. By we I mean the region, Croats, Bosnians & Herzegovinians, Serbs, Montenegrians… Talking is how we do life. If your family is quiet and you live on Balkans, congrats to you! That is maybe also a reason we have to remind ourselves to use Twitter, and companies here kinda force it (but it is just not working)…

free-tweeting-twitter-bird-icon

You see? Even their bird says only “tweet”!

How am I supposed to fit my thoughts in 140 letters??? Wait, is it 140 or 160? …….It’s 140, I checked. 😊 #proud

I started to write this on Twitter and got into -300 something before I looked up and saw it. Nope, there is no way I can say/write everything that’s on my mind right now in 140 letters. Man, even WordPress is not on my side today! You see? You see how long is this post already?

Despite all the problems I am facing I am ready to act. I love love all of guys and girls and no I haven’t forget about you, and I love writing, making you and me happy, inspiring, telling just how it is, making challenges, completing weekly and daily Prompts…

Okidoki Artichoky

Can you pronounce the title?

(okey-doukey arti-choky)

I say this quite often. 😀 Maaaaybe, just maybe I’ll film myself saying it, huh?…. Yesterday was kinda awesome, because I dared and opened YouTube editor for the first time. WHOA! 😉 Played with it some time, and all I can say is that – I WANT MORE!

I want to learn editing so bad…. Has anything stop you lately from doing what you want to do? If it did, I get you. I get you real bad. Past three years was/are something I need to wrap my head around in a way that I can learn and respect the balance of my wishes and limitations at the moment. A moment of three years I guess?

I remember hearing this song when you could hear cool music only by listening to radio with a tape ready to record something you like. Or buy audio tapes. I got goosebumps when I heard this song for the first time, I remember that exact moment and situation. I was about 12 and I was laying down in bed I was sharing with my sister in an old small house. I starred at the ceiling and this song gave me hope. I felt I could see the sun he was waiting.  Music does that to me… It can switch my mind towards the good feelz. What do you do to overcome something traumatic for you? What helps you? I honestly want to know… 🙂

My baby blog has been neglected for some time and I can not tell you how much I am grateful right now. I CAN WRITE!!! So freaking awesome… ❤

Now there are “few” things stopping me from going in GO mode, and I respect that. I am just so extremely glad I am not in a hospital anymore and that I finally can watch at computer screen without getting a migraine five minutes after. Yay! I have also ignored social media and let me just tell you how liberated I feel being away from Facebook for 99% of my time. It really changed my priorities and got me off of that “check out FB” routine all the way. Life is better with as less facebooking as possible. Is facebooking a word? Well, now it is 😀 I super duper ignored other social networks that are available too. I was really on with my offline mode – party coz I just couldn’t go online physically and mentally, before you think I have that strong will power hahaha…

Mon……ups, Tuesday blues

It is almost 3 am and I am sitting here, not in a particularly comfortable position writing in the dark.

What is going on?

I don’t know.

Has internet and blogosphere trapped me again?

Probably.

b32194ef31ca2d88de1e6d7caf655ef4

Have been true for many many nights….

All I know is that I feel monday-ish all day and it’s still that day to me because I did not go to sleep yet (my logic), and I am looking at all sorts of challenges, writing, photo, prompts… A lot of stuff just awaits my attention and I can see myself write and write and write days away. 🙂 And that’s doesn’t even include all the things I have begun but aren’t posted yet… I honestly don’t know how it is like to be without inspiration on my blog, I literary have to hold myself up from not writing 10 posts in a day, and I hope I won’t taste the bitter taste of blank mind here.

So, what do I do when it’s too late for anything except bookmarking?

I share anti – blues video for Monday/Tuesday… Any day you need it. 🙂

Being valuated for your writing or bringing pleasure to many?

First thing I thought was, difficult choice.

Which was funny because I saw at least three post titled Easy Choice. 🙂

I love to watch documentaries, specially the ones that have something to do with space, animals and history. And there are few people in each area that made so much difference that we literally couldn’t live without their contribution to modern world as we know it. Today I watched a documentary about observing stars and comets and the way they move in relation to our planet. From ancient civilizations to 17. century. Specifically, month of August in 1684. in London Cambridge. The meeting so important we know about it 330 years later! Edmond Halley went to find a man who was known as a man with hard temper who was living alone, staying away from people. Isaac Newton. The thing Halley wanted from Newton was mathematical calculation of the way planets orbit our Sun in Solar system and he couldn’t find anyone who would make something like that. Newton said that he already made that calculation (!!!) but couldn’t find it, so he will do it again and send it by mail to Halley. Halley was skeptical but in few days a letter arrived. And in it… A clear mathematical explanation of force previously noted but not explained – GRAVITY.

What an amazing moment that was!

Scene from documentary

Scene from documentary; Halley on the left when he came to see Newton on the right

I hated math, trust me… But even I know calculation for gravity (some of it) from physics… To think that Isaac was/is so important that children all over the world study by his calculations and scientist go from his basics to study more and to expand our knowledge of universe….. That is mind-blowing!!! He made a base for our space exploration and missions in space. Right now above us, there is International Space Station with scientists and astronomers on board making experiments about how things behave in space and similar….

Later, Halley was the one that published (at his expense) Isaac Newton’s book, a bible for scientists all over the world;  Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica

You also probably know Halley, he did amazing work also in area of astronomy, but we all know him by Halley’s comet – Because he found out that the comets that were passing by and being written about in many cultures, going from 3000 years before new era, was actually ONE comet coming back in time difference of 76 years. Wow! There were other comets also, but this discovery shook everything people knew about astronomy, gravity, Solar system at the time…

I thought that we saw Halley’s comet because i remember I was looking at one when I was a kid, but today I found out that was not Halley’s. This one is coming back in 2066. Yay!! I can hope… 😉

So, you see with how much awe and excitement I am writing about people who lived 4 centuries ago and books with math equations and I am not even loving math!! Imagine what does this mean to everyone who is in the field of math, physics, astronomy…really, any science…

On the other side is the now.

People who write books want to sell them. Want to make a living out of them. Want to buy a house with money they get. Halley and Newton didn’t have luxuries, sometimes they didn’t even have a paycheck. But they sure did have passion.

I would love to reach out to people. Now. To talk to them, to change something. To inspire. To live. So, this question is so difficult to me and as usual, I will make my own answer.

“I am reaching out to many people about something important.”

How about that scenario? 😉

The Evolution Of My Writing

This is by far most personal post I have ever writen on this blog. That is also why it’s a bit long. I am scared. But clicked publish. 🙂 It’s for Weekly Writing Challenge.

I always loved to write… I can’t remember how and when it started, but I always loved to write and read. I have a video tape for those old VCR’s of my third birthday. I wanted to read from newspapers so I can prove I can. AT THREE!

I used to love going to library on the children section, I remember I was wandering around shelves and getting lost in the, oh so many stories that haven’t been read. As I got older I just moved from children section into teen section and continued to get lost. 🙂

In school I loved to write. I would always get a five (that’s an A) from writing…  But high school almost killed the reading-lover I was. We were obligated to read so many books through school plan that we would literary not sleep. I still think to this day, that Croatian school program is one of the toughest in the world, and with integrating young people who finish school and college into business world one of the lousiest.

So, what happened? I had so many books to read which I didn’t like… Try reading War and Peace from Tolstoj in 2 weeks with school and homework, try reading 800 pages of Anna Karenina in two weeks with all other tests in school, and then try to imagine the impact this books are leaving. After I read Kafka’s Transformation and Process I felt sick in my stomach. All those books I mentioned are considered classics and are interesting, but not when obligatory they’re not. There were sooooo many books to read, really. Like 15 of them… I hated them. And my grade was depending on it. To a 17 year old, this is a definition of torture. While myself and few others actually read it, majority of class didn’t and they failed on tests. If I hadn’t loved books and been obsessed with my grades (MUST.GET.IN.GOOD.COLLEGE.) I wouldn’t read them also. Hey… There were far more interesting stuff for me than books. Boys. 😉

But I did get through, with periodic blues and depression from these books which are very hard to read. I still don’t know why the school plan gives that books as obligatory to read in such sort periods of time to people who are discovering who they are and who can’t possibly at that moment appreciate those books. I don’t get it. Someone explain it to me.

What I did do… I wrote. From when I learned how to, I wrote and wrote and wrote… I had a journal, I would write every day… I had two of them, big thick notepads filled with my daily life. I threw one away and kept one. I still have poetry there. Who knows, maybe that will see the day light someday. And I wrote stories. I was always a fan of detective books and romance books, so I would combine the two. I would write a love story but with a huge twist, unexpected. I was also writing “my book” that got deleted somewhere in the process of me not writing it anymore and computer dying… But what I wrote as kid was something I call “school writing”. You know, when you write how wonderful is the spring and how autumn has beautiful colors when you know your teacher will like it and you will get good grade. When, in fact, you couldn’t care less about spring and in autumn you feel like you have been taken away from the beach and sand and fun and now you’re sitting in the stupid classroom with boring stuff to do and you give a tiny rat’s ass about colors of autumn. 🙂 I have started really writing somewhere at the end of elementary (13, 14 years old). I wrote in my free time, I wrote because I wanted to. And I started to write freely in school when I joined journalist section (last year, age 17/ 18). I was rocking the free themes of those articles and having a blast. I still have those high-school newspapers and some elementary ones… I will post my proof later in this post. 😉

Also, we had a lot of writing involved in high school. I remember one time I wrote a school work and all my sentences were beginning with “I wish…” All of them. It was great and now, I wish (!) I have those school works. But they were in special notebooks that we would get only when it was time to write and give back at the end of two classes. What a shame.

My relationship with reading improved when I got in college. I used to go to library for a different reason now – to study in my own time on my own terms. It was quiet, almost like a task that needs to be fulfilled. I would meet up with my friend, or group of friends and we would go to study. Later, when I got so much behind that I didn’t know anyone I started going on my own in the nearest library. I will never forget it. It was winter, the heating was humming next to us few, each on their own desk, with their own papers, books and notes. After a while, I would stop notice the noise from the rest of the library and dive into my assignment. I would forget where I was… Other times, I would be restless. Not in the mood for studying. I would notice everything around me. I would hear the children feet tumbling in the section beside, their voices and attempts to be quiet, careful and all-seeing looks of a librarian guarding the reading room – place where we were. Although it wasn’t a room, it was barely a section divided by a wall of books. I would noticed if it was raining and watched how the rain drops fall on huge massive windows. And my eye would wander off outside, watching street lights and wondering how can it be so different in here and out there. It seemed to me like different life. Funny, isn’t it? 🙂

And here it is; My evolution of writing

First, article from school papers from fourth grade elementary school. That would be 9/10 years old. 🙂 My comments are in ITALIC 😉

My mother

Once upon a time not so long ago, there was a girl (still is) and she met a young man. They fall in love deeply and soon the wedding bells were ringing. (watching so many cartoons 🙂 ) From their love I came into this world.

I was crying all the time and it took a lot of care and work around me. My dad was making money for food and he worked all the time, and my mom took care of me. Beside that she was teaching me how to walk and talk. I was constantly hungry and waking up at night crying. My mom would spent hours to console me, and she had to get up early in the morning. It was even harder when I was sick. Measure her temperature, wash the bottle, no, not that, with cold water, put the tea, cover Iva, put her pacifier in her mouth, no, don’t cry! No, no… shhhhh. Put the wet compress… And not to mention how many more stuff my mom had to endure. She used to tell me often:  „Small bird, loud mouth!“ (It is an expression in Croatian) She was dealing with all my wet problems in diapers. She looked after me, feed me, washed me… She helps me now also, but I am already big and I can do most of the things on my own. So I say to my smart and hard-working mother and all mothers that are like that big thank you for taking care for your children. A mother is something special, she would give everything for her child. And my mother gave everything, everything for me. (Oh so dramatic, little me.)

The second one is from 8th grade. That is 14/15 years old.

THE COLOR OF LOVE

Love isn’t just in one color for me,  because there are more types of love:

Pink love is gentle love, it is love between a mother and daughter, between brother and sister. She connects us firmly with our parents, brothers and sisters. (I was going a lot in church; every Sunday a mass, every week a religion class in school. When preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation we were really in the church all the time. It was in 8th grade.) This type of love always exist in out hearts, never fades away.

Green love is young  love. It got her color from spring, when everything goes green because just like spring, it comes fast and goes fast not leaving any trace in our life. (But we all remember out first crushes don’t we?)

Blue love is very important. She is created when two young hearts decide to come together in a unbreakable community of marriage. (Again, the religious tone in which I was raised emerges in unexpected place…) They come together like two streams come together in one big blue, clear river.

Purple love is a love of a friend. She is born between two honestly bounded friends.

Yellow love is love of light, hope. It is our love for life, to our very own existence.

And at last, the most important and most beautiful love in the world, the red one. Red like blood. It is a love between a man and a girl who are prepared to give their lives for it. She is like a big flame of fire in their hearts and can not be put away. (I think we had Romeo and Juliet for assignment that year.)

And so, I really don’t know what color is love. But, I do know a color where there is no love at all. That is black. (A-men to that young me.)

And the last one… Oh, the hardest one to pick because this is when we get personal. And I am not ready for my poems to be read to my closest, let alone whole WP community. So, this was carefully picked.

I think I was 19 when I wrote this.

I will let my sorrow be

I will let my sorrow fly free

If I let my sorrow fly free

She will bring me back me.

Weekly Writing Challenge: the Difference Point of View Makes

Fotor01023220340

As the door opened, the wind knocked down one of the bread basket on the nearest table.

– Great. Here we go again. – the waitress nodded as the old man entered in the restaurant. Isn’t that pathetic? – she thought. I mean, look at him… Every week at the same time. Like a clock. I could set my watch by him. At least, there is someone more pathetic in this place than me… Ssssss! She quickly jumped away from hot water. – Damn it! I burned my hand. Damn it damn it, DAMN IT! Fuck these dishes! Fuck this place! I wish i could curse out loud today! Oh, I wish that so much… Stupid job. Stupid uniform. stupid finger that keeps burning. Stupid fucking boss. “You need to smile more.” Oh, I’ll show you smiling, today I’m gonna smile till my face hurts and then I’m gonna put my face under hot water too… Damn.

She was mumbling and had a frown on her face. A shadow. A kind of unpleasant feeling was laying on her lips. She wanted to be an entertainer. A singer. It seemed so easy at first. She got high of the feeling of success. Like a drug that was running through her veins. And like a drug, when it stopped she hit the ground so hard her head wanted to explode. When she realised she got crossed over, it hurt even more. She was suddenly a left-out, a no-no, she was a reject. And that was the word written on her lips, even when she smiled.

The young cook was looking at her. She looks so much older. He remembered his wife. An instant smile appeared on his face. His love, his life. She was so different. Alive… Today after he comes home they are going to celebrate the second birthday of beautiful Sarah, the little queen of his heart. He felt bliss thinking about her small hands and black locks. He felt so happy. Content. He looked trough the window. – I have to remember to pick up the cake – he thought. That cake was the most important thing for him today.

– Okay. Forget about the finger. Just smile. Smile and nod. Smileeeeeeee. Old fart is going to order the same thing he orders every time anyway. Eggs and bacon with cornbread. No salt. No salt! He adds that every time… And he’s probably gonna add something stupid. Deep breath. Just smile, big fucking smile…

“Hello, sir Carl, would you like to order now?”
“Uhm? Yes, yes miss Jeannie. Of course. I’ll have… I’ll have a… Uhm. Eggs and bacon please. Thank you. And cornbread! Yes, that too…”
“Is that all?”
“Yes, yes it is.”
– Funny he didn’t say no salt – she thought as she was walking away from his table.
“Miss Jeannie?!”
“Yes mister?”
– There he goes.
“I’m sorry.”
“For what?” – she stopped.
“For the basket I knocked down when I entered…”
“Oh that’s fine, don’t worry about it…”

Carl was sitting at his table. So familiar. Basket, red door at the end with the sign “Staff only”. White-blue table covers. Menu which used to be white years ago… Even the stains on the menu were familiar. and yet, his world was crushing down.

Today he was at the hospital. His wife was there for two days now, after she passed-out in the living room. They were running some tests, he didn’t understand anything. He was lost. He got lost two times trying to find the right room when she asked for a juice from the hospital cafeteria. She looked at him with her warm eyes.

“Sit down.”
There was something scary about her calm voice. He sat.
“Carl… The doctors say that I have cancer.”
His heart skipped.
“Wha-what?”
“It’s a brain cancer Carl. It is inoperable. It…it has been there for too long and…” – her voice cracked.
He reached to her and hugged her so strong. She sobbed and started to shake while they both sat at her hospital bed. He tried to comfort her… To say something… But his thoughts failed on him. He felt like someone was ripping his heart out. With every sob she made, he thought he was going to die. When she calmed down he lied that there is something he needs to do and then came here. To a familiar place. Now he was looking at old tables and chairs trying to find warmth and comfort, but all he could hear was her crying.

 – That is strange tho. Very. I never thought something like this would happen. So sudden. And I feel weird. I feel alienated. Like someone is directing my life right now. And it’s actually weird that I feel this way, considering that I never loved her. Not then, not now… I mean, I like her. I love her. Like I love this bacon and eggs every week. But, as hard as I tried…..-and oh my God did I try, I never loved her with all my heart. As a lover… a friend… a person. Should I tell her that now? Will it be better if she knows? Would she cry more or just say – “I know”? How could I spent fourthy-five years of my life with someone I find familiar? Why haven’t I searched for a true love? The one she is feeling for me… I’m gonna tell her. – he decided chewing on the last piece of bacon.

He got up, paid, and as he opened the door and heard the familiar bell sound, he changed his mind. He turned left and went down the street to buy her some flowers.
